What is USSD Banking?

USSD Banking is a convenient, fast, secure, and affordable way to access your bank account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through your mobile phone without internet data.

Who Can Operate USSD Banking?

This Mobile Banking service is available to all individual account holders with any phone that runs on the GSM platform.

Account Opening:

  1. Dial *966*0#
  2. You will be asked for your First and Last name
  3. Create 4 digit PIN
  4. Confirm PIN
  5. If successful, you will get a message thanking you for choosing Zenith bank.
  6. An SMS will be sent immediately with your new account number

Balance Enquiry :

  1. Dial *966*00#
  2. The short code must be sent using your AlertZ number which must be a GSM phone.
  3. For first time service, you will be prompted to register by entering the last 4 digits of your Debit Card (MasterCard or Visa)
  4. Create 4 digit PIN
  5. Confirm PIN
  6. You will see a message “Retrieving balance. You will receive an SMSshortly”
  7. Customer then gets an SMS with balances on his account (Savings and Current)

Transfers:

  1. Dial *966*amount*account number#
  2. Select beneficiary bank by entering the corresponding number
  3. After selection, a confirmation page will be displayed showing beneficiary name, bank and the amount. You will be prompted to enter your 4 digit PIN
  4. If successful, the following message will be displayed “You have successfully transferred “amount” to “beneficiary account no”. Your new balance is “amount.”

Buy Airtime for any mobile number :

  1. Dial *966*amount*mobile number#
  2. Select network to which the number belongs by entering the corresponding number
  3. After selection, a confirmation page will be displayed showing the mobile number and the amount. Enter your 4 digit PIN to confirm
  4. If successful, the following message will be displayed: You have successfully purchased airtime of “amount” for “mobile number”

Bills Payment:

  1. Dial *966*7*amount*smartcard number#
  2. Select a particular biller by entering the corresponding number
  3. After selection, a confirmation page will be displayed showing biller name, reference number and the amount. Enter your 4 digit PIN
  4. If successful, the following message will be displayed: You have successfully paid “biller” with “amount” Your new balance is “amount”

The Diamond Yello Account (DYA) offers our customers a safe and easy means of opening and operating a full bank account from the convenience of their MTN Mobile phone, without the hassles of tedious documentation requirements (all registered MTN customers are automatically eligible) or the difficulty of finding or getting to bank branches, as the product is easily accessible through our network of Agents.

With the Diamond Yello Account, our customers will enjoy;
  • The convenience of opening a full bank account without the need to visit a bank branch to fill forms or provide any documentation.
  • The ability to send and receive money to and from any bank account in Nigeria and also to non-account holders.
  • Easy access to bank services through our network of Agents for deposits and withdrawals.

USING YOUR DIAMOND Y'ELLO ACCOUNT:

To Deposit Cash into your Diamond Yello Account
  • Visit any Diamond Yello Account agent
  • Tell the agent how much you wish to deposit into your Diamond Yello  Account
  • Hand over cash to the agent.
  • Give the agent your DYA NUBAN Account number
  • The agent will credit your account with the amount you have handed over to him for
  • You will receive a text message that your account has been funded with the amount you wish to deposit into your account.
  • Check your account balance to confirm money has entered your account
To View Your NUBAN Account Number
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Services by typing 1 and send
  • From the displayed screen,  Select manage Account  by typing  6 and send
  • To view your NUBAN Account Number type  2 and  send
  • Your Diamond Yello NUBAN Account Number will be displayed.
To Check your account Balance
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Services by typing 1 and send
  • From the displayed screen, type 2 and send to check your account balance.
  • Enter your account PIN
  • Account balance information will be displayed.
To buy MTN Airtime
  • Dial *710#
  • Select MTN Service by typing 2 and send
  • From the displayed screen, type 1 to recharge your phone or type 2 to recharge for others and send.
  • Enter the amount of Airtime you wish to buy
  • Enter  the beneficiary's mobile number (no entry is required if your own mobile phone is the beneficiary)
  • Repeat the mobile number entered in step 5 above
  • Confirm the details supplied
  • Enter your Account PIN
  • You will receive a message on your phone confirming the completion of the transaction.
To Transfer Money – Yello Account to Yello Account
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Services by typing 1 and send.
  • Options 1,2,3 will be displayed
  • Select Transfer Money by typing 1 and send.
  • Select Account to Account by typing 1 and send.
  • Enter receiver's NUBAN Account number
  • Repeat the  NUBAN Account number
  • Enter the amount you wish to send
  • Enter a reference, e.g. "Gift from Peter" (optional)
  • Confirm the details supplied
  • Enter your Account PIN
  • You will receive a message on your phone confirming the completion of the transaction
To Transfer Money to Unbanked subscribers (Voucher Generation) (Non-MTN recipient)
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Service by typing 1 and send.
  • Options 1,2,3 will be displayed
  • Select Transfer Money by typing 1 and send.
  • Select send to unbanked by typing 3 and send.
  • From the display screen,
  • Enter the recipient's mobile number
  • Repeat the mobile number
  • Enter the amount you wish to send
  • Enter reference
  • Select a four-digit secret code
  • Repeat the secret code
  • Confirm the details supplied
  • Enter your Account PIN
  • You will receive an SMS containing the secret code and a Token (a randomly generated twelve-digit number)
  • Pass on the Token and the secret code to the receiver. Thereafter, the receiver goes to a Mobile Money Agent to cash out the money.
To Transfer Money to a favourite
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Service by typing 1 and send
  • Select Transfer Money by typing 1 and send.
  • Options 1,2,3 will be displayed
  • Select Favourites by typing 4 and send.
  • From the display screen,
  • Select Favourites by Name or Find option through typing 1 or 2 respectively and send.
  • Select a favourite
  • Enter the amount you wish to send
  • Type in a reference, e.g. "Gift from Peter" (optional)
  • Confirm the details supplied
  • Enter your Account PIN
  • You will receive a message on your phone confirming the completion of the transaction
To Withdraw Cash from your Diamond Yello Account
  • Visit any Diamond Yello Account agent
  • Tell the agent how much you wish to cash-out
  • Follow the other instruction to withdraw amount from an agent.
  • Await a confirmation prompt from the system (sent by the agent to your phone) to approve cash withdrawal
  • Proceed to approve cash withdrawal once confirmation prompt is received.
  • From your Phone
  • Dial *710#
  • Options 1,2,3 will be displayed
  • From the display screen, select Bank Service by typing 1
  • Select Cash Withdrawal by typing 3 and send.
  • Select  from Agent by typing 1 and send
  • View the transaction pending approval from the list
  • Select Approved by typing 1 and send to approve cash withdrawal
  • Enter your account PIN
  • You will receive a message confirming the success of the cash-out along with your remaining balance after the transaction.
  • Receive the cash from the agent
To View Your Account Statement
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Services by typing 1 and send
  • From the display screen,
  • To View Account Statement, type 5 and send.
  • Enter your account PIN
  • Account Statements for 5 previous transactions will be displayed.
To change your account PIN
  • Dial *710#
  • Select Bank Services by typing 1 and send
  • From the options displayed choose Manage Account by typing 6 and send.
  • Select Change Acct PIN by typing 1 and send.
  • Enter your current account PIN
  • Enter a new account PIN
  • Repeat  the new account PIN
  • You will receive a confirmation upon completion.
